IANA SOPHIA FINE ARTS

Iana Sophia's art pulsates between the seen and envisioned, the figurative and abstract. Inspired by a mystical sensitivity and an appreciation of nature, these paintings draw the viewer into a place of contemplation, where the secrets of the work begin to unfold.

Iana Sophia is a painter in oil and watercolor, originally from the Czech Republic, she has been creating and showing her work in small, independent local venues in the Boston Metro area. Previously Iana worked in Prague, Vienna, Salzburg and Zurich;  she received  her masters degree in arts from the Universitaet Wien, in Vienna, Austria.

She specializes in oils, but is also experimenting with other media, such as oil based mono-prints, as well as digital post-production of my original paintings.

The work shown here is taken from the cycles "Ethereal Landscapes", "Atmospheres" "Sehnsucht" and "Villages" created between 2002 and 2008

The morst recent work, titled "Plum Island Marshes" was created in 2009.  The source of inspiration was the pristine beauty of the coastal area around "Plum Island", a nature reseve, located about 50 miles north of Boston.
